Bee-centric Keeper and now, Steward of 100+ forest acres in Clark State Forest

History

Greetings! Elise Dixie Jane here. A mouthful, I know. With 17 years in business, my educational background includes but is not limited to Clinical Herbalism, Wildlife Conservation, Nature Art, Reiki, Bee Stewardship, and designing gardens of all kinds! I tell stories using Nature as my Art Medium.

Wild Indigo Forest Farm is a Retreat Center and Regenerative Farm, located twenty five minutes north of Louisville. Home to a 2 acre natural swimming pond, Daffodil Renewal Labryinth, Farm to Table Bed + Breakfast, 100+ acres of forest, beehives, and Herb Farm - with 60 + of the herbs found in our homegrown Apothecary. We hold a deep reverence for the plants, materials and people involved in the production of our products. We strive to inspire the global community to re-engage with stewardship of our precious earth by taking action to reduce environmental footprint, uplift one another, and invest in regenerative practices. We believe that social and environmental responsibility go hand in hand with running a business and true success is attained with a triple bottom line approach — profit, people and planet. We seek to reduce our impact on the environment through facilitating sustainability and integrity throughout our supply chain. We believe plant medicine is for the people and dedicate our time and energy to preparing small batches - while inspiring others to grow and make their own medicine.

Bee-centric Keeping Practice

Rooted in the philosophy of treatment-free natural beekeeping, my focus lies in fostering the vitality of bee colonies and their interconnected ecosystem. Without resorting to chemical interventions, I employ natural methods to enhance bee health, allowing robust colonies to naturally yield surplus products for communal sharing.

The Three Headed Woo

And then we have Kimberly Elizabeth. My human mother. During the 80's, Kimberly acted as an Herbalist, Essential Oil Practitioner, and Ayurvedic Specialist. In 1989, the FDA shut Kimberly down for making health claims about garlic - What? The government shutting down Ayurvedic claims, the oldest Health system on Spaceship Earth. No way!

In 1990, Kimberly graduated from Louisville School of Massage - Advanced Massage Therapeutics and began practicing Reiki on her newborn (me)! For the last 35 years, Kimberly has passionately practiced Therapeutic Massage - with a focus on Lymphatic Drainage, Shirodhara, Craniosacral, Reflexology, and Reiki.

You can catch Kimberly in our Healing Studio on the farm, at an Art Festival or Farmers Market in the Wild Indigo Forest Farm booth.
