Retreat FAQ

Our current retreat booking cap is up to 33 attendees + facilitators, primarily because of parking and guest flow. For yoga-style layouts, the main floor of Knob N' Wood holds about 20 mats comfortably, with additional loft space available for guests who are comfortable using an elevated upper level.

The Retreat Center and the main gathering areas included in your booking are exclusive to your group during your retreat. Wild Indigo also operates a Bed + Breakfast and campsites elsewhere on the property, so whole-property exclusivity is not automatic.

That simply means you may occasionally pass a camper or overnight guest elsewhere in the forest or see someone walking around the pond, but they will not be using your Retreat Center or primary booked gathering spaces.

If you would like the entire property reserved exclusively for your group, ask us as early as possible. Full-property exclusivity can often be arranged when booked far enough in advance, but existing reservations may affect availability.

Absolutely! You are welcome to bring an outside caterer, private chef, facilitator, teacher, bodyworker, artist, or other practitioner as part of your retreat plan. Wild Indigo services can also be added if you would rather keep more of the experience in-house.

Absolutely! Depending on availability, overnight options can include Hummingbird Haven Bed + Breakfast, primitive camping, RV camping, or a combination. Overnight accommodations are booked separately from the standard Retreat Center rental unless they are specifically included in your package.

For Wild Indigo overnight accommodations, absolutely—linens are provided. We also keep plenty of cozy blankets around Knob N' Wood for day retreat guests who want an extra layer during meditation, sound, rest, or cooler weather.

Food and drink are chosen separately from the Retreat Center rental so each host can build the experience that fits their group. You may self-provide or potluck, use Wild Indigo Farm-to-Table Catering, bring an outside caterer, or arrange a private-chef experience.

Absolutely! When Wild Indigo is preparing or coordinating food, we want to know dietary needs before the retreat so they can be considered while the menu is being built.

Depending on the menu, we can often plan for needs such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, nut or peanut-free, soy-free, sesame-free, and other common restrictions. Kosher, halal, and other religious dietary needs can also be discussed during planning.

For celiac disease, anaphylactic allergies, or strict religious observance, please tell us clearly in advance. Knob N' Wood has a shared kitchen that handles many ingredients, so we cannot promise a completely allergen-free environment or zero cross-contact.

Absolutely! Hosts may bring food, organize a potluck, or use outside prepared food. We simply ask that the food plan be discussed ahead of time so kitchen use, refrigeration, serving space, cleanup, and guest dietary needs can all be accounted for.

Our current policy is BYOB by arrangement. Any alcohol service must be lawful, responsible, and appropriate for the gathering. If alcohol is part of your retreat, include it in the planning conversation so expectations are clear before the event.

Parking changes a little with the seasons because part of our upper ridge is a living pollinator meadow. The parking area immediately beside Knob N' Wood is prioritized for guests with mobility needs and comfortably holds about 6–7 vehicles.

• Main Retreat Center / next-door lot: about 6–7 vehicles, with mobility needs prioritized
• Upper ridge sun spot: about 4–5 vehicles during spring, summer, and early fall while the pollinator meadow is in bloom
• Upper ridge meadow after bloom season: once the pollinator meadow is no longer in bloom, the full meadow can be used for parking and can hold 20+ vehicles
• Private hidden forest lot: about 5 vehicles; guests can take the approximately two-minute forest trail to the Retreat Center or we can pick them up by shuttle
• Overflow at the Knobstone Trailhead: up to about 25 vehicles

For larger retreats, we coordinate the parking plan with the host before arrival and may recommend carpooling or a shuttle so the closest spaces remain available for guests who need them most. We are also happy to shuttle guests from any parking area other than the lot immediately beside the house.

Absolutely! Please tell us ahead of time and we will reserve the closest practical parking and help plan the easiest arrival route into Knob N' Wood.

Wild Indigo Forest Farm is generally about 25–30 minutes from Louisville, depending on traffic and where in the city you are coming from.

Knob N' Wood includes two mobility-friendly bathrooms with safety bars and roll-under sinks, an accessible kitchen work area, and nearby parking that can be reserved with mobility needs in mind. The main floor is the primary retreat space for guests who need the simplest route without using the loft.

Not all of them. Wild Indigo sits on steep, naturally uneven woodland terrain, so many forest trails include grades, roots, leaves, and surfaces that are not wheelchair accessible.

There is a more mobility-friendly route from the driveway toward the yoga/workshop areas and flatter trail space near Loki's Daffodil Renewal Labyrinth, but part of the route includes an incline where some guests may want assistance. We will always be transparent about the terrain before your visit.

Absolutely! Before your gathering, we can talk through mobility, seating, pathways, parking, sensory needs, dietary concerns, quiet-space needs, and other reasonable accommodations. Tell us what would make the day safer or more comfortable and we will identify what we can support within the building and the natural landscape.

The main commercial airport is Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) in Louisville, Kentucky.

The closest hotels are roughly 20 minutes away. We often recommend Historic Downtown New Albany for guests who want restaurants, coffee, and lodging nearby while still being a short drive from Wild Indigo. We are also happy to point you toward nearby rental options.

Absolutely! That is one of the nicest ways to turn a day gathering into a fuller forest experience. Tell us how many people hope to stay overnight and what kind of accommodations they prefer, and we can build the options around availability.

Absolutely! Wi-Fi is available in designated areas at Knob N' Wood, and backup internet is available for power disruptions. We love a technology-light forest day, but we also understand that facilitators and guests may need reliable access.

Knob N' Wood includes a stocked kitchen, projection/screen options, sound systems, basic dance lighting, a disco ball hanging from the wood ceiling, flexible gathering space, a large deck, the Yoga Loft, and access to the wider Wild Indigo landscape as arranged for your retreat. If your workshop has specific audio, projection, table, seating, or equipment needs, tell us before the event so we can confirm the setup.

Absolutely! Washer and dryer access is available when needed, especially for overnight stays and longer gatherings.

Knob N' Wood gives us a strong indoor home base, so many parts of a retreat can move inside if rain, cold, heat, or other conditions make outdoor plans uncomfortable. Outdoor activities are always dependent on conditions, and we work with the host to adapt the day rather than force a plan that no longer makes sense.

For Retreat Center and forest retreat bookings, pets are not permitted inside the Retreat Center except trained service animals required because of a disability. Pet-friendly camping is available as long as pets stay on a leash and do not bother wildlife. If your retreat includes camping, please let us know in advance so we can help plan the smoothest guest flow.

Your host may send a retreat-specific packing list. As a general starting point, we recommend a refillable water bottle, comfortable layers, weather-appropriate clothing, trail-friendly shoes if you plan to explore the forest, and any personal comfort or accessibility items you know you will want during the day.

A retreat date is secured with 50% of the rental total due at signing. Rental payments are non-refundable, and the remaining balance is due 30 days before the retreat.

If a retreat is cancelled at least 30 days in advance, paid rental funds may be transferred to a new available date, with any difference in pricing due. A security hold equal to 25% of the rental is authorized shortly before the retreat and released after the post-retreat walk-through when no additional charges are needed.
