Wild Indigo Homegrown Apothecary
Old-school kitchen herbalism in one pungent-sweet jar. Raw honey, garlic, oregano, thyme, basil and lavender bring together culinary tradition, fermentation and plant chemistry without pretending a spoonful of food is the same thing as a standardized supplement.
Ingredients
Raw honey, garlic, oregano, thyme, basil and lavender.
Food Tradition & Research Notes
Raw honey · traditional throat-soothing food. Human studies have examined honey for cough frequency and sleep during upper-respiratory infections in people over age 1. Honey also contributes naturally occurring polyphenols.
Garlic · culinary staple & cardiovascular research. Standardized garlic preparations have been studied in relation to blood pressure and lipid markers. Those studies use measured doses, so this fermented food preparation should not be treated as equivalent to a supplement.
Oregano · aromatic plant chemistry. Oregano is rich in carvacrol and thymol, compounds studied for antimicrobial activity in laboratory settings. Human evidence from ordinary culinary amounts is much more limited.
Thyme · culinary & respiratory tradition. Thyme has a long history in food and herbal preparations, including traditional respiratory use. Human evidence is stronger for standardized thyme-containing preparations than for culinary amounts.
Basil · food herb & polyphenols. Basil provides polyphenols and aromatic compounds and has been studied for several metabolic and inflammatory markers, with results that vary by species and preparation.
Lavender · aromatic tradition. Lavender has a long history as a calming aromatic. Human research on standardized oral lavender preparations should not be treated as equivalent to the small culinary amount used here.
